The objective of this workshop is to introduce the participants to the best practices in visual journalism, to broaden their understanding of design, to improve the quality of their work on a day to day basis, and how to do the most with the least. They will be given a fresh perspective and a new set of tools they can use when designing for their publications.
She was a design director at the The Gazette newspaper before founding her company Lacava Design Inc., a firm offering visual strategies for print and digital media. Since then, she has given visual personality to more than 80 publications across Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates. She has received more than 100 national and international awards in her career, including the SND's “World's Best Designed Newspaper" award for three of her projects.
She has given workshops at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, the American Press Institute, and as a visiting faculty member at the Universidad Catolica de Chile.
In 2010 the Society for News Design honoured Lucie Lacava with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
