Sajeev Kumar T.K, Visual Editor of Kerala Kaumudi based in Kerala, India, has been named Society for News Design regional director for Asia and South Pacific.
Before his current role, TKsajeev was the sports editor, the editor of the Sunday weekend magazine, and the page one editor. He also runs a very popular website about design in India.
TKsajeev says, “I am excited about working for SND, and assure you my sincere effort towards promoting SND and its activities in Region 19.”
“We’re very excited to welcome TKsajeev to the board,” said Steve Dorsey, SND president. “He’s a proven leader among visual journalists, his passion for bringing people together and facilitating dialogue and sharing ideas will be a huge asset to his region and to SND in general.”
“Not many regions share such a passion for newspapers as you can still find it in India,” said Hans Peter Janisch, SND’s International Director. “Great and lively design combined with circulations that most of us dream about, make this region an important base for the future of SND in southeast Asia. And I think, with Sajeev we have found a great representative for our Society. I am looking forward to working with him.”
Janisch is already working with TKsajeev and others to put on a joint SND-IFRA design conference in Delhi in January of 2012.
TKsajeev’s site is a popular newspaper design site where you can find exclusive interviews with designers like Mario Garcia, Ron Reason, Hans Peter. Jacek Utko, Miguel Gomez, Peter Ong , Charles Apple and others. The site provides useful material for aspiring visual editors, focusing on Indian visual journalists
“Through my site, I have conducted India’s First International Newspaper Design competition in 2010,” said TKsajeev. “The jury was comprised of Internationally acclaimed visual journalists. Charles Apple, the well-known designer, headed the jury.”
“Last year my site had also conducted World cup soccer International newspaper design competition.”
