Last year, the New York Times published a list of blatant lies and falsehoods told by both Donald Trump and Barack Obama during their time in office. Throughout his eight years in the White House, Obama was untruthful on 18 occasions. Generally, his falsehoods tended to be attempts to make his policies look better or they were merely careless exaggerations.
Trump on the other hand lies frequently and attempts to discredit those telling the truth, whether they are judges, scientists or members of the FBI. According to the New York Times, Trump’s core political strategy is to make the truth irrelavant, something which is damaging democracy. During his first 10 months in office, Trump has told 103 blatant lies, nearly six times as many as Obama did during his entire presidency. The full list of falsehoods from both men can be found here.
