The South China Morning Post picked up eight medals at the annual Malofiej Infographics World Summit, earning the newspaper the sixth largest medal haul last Friday.

Highlights were deputy head of infographics Adolfo Arranz’s silver medal for his story

“The China Ship”, about the beginnings of globalisation and infographic designer Marcelo Duhalde’s bronze for
his portfolio investigating life inside Beijing’s Forbidden City.

“I’m psyched to see my work recognised with medals in a competition as prestigious as Malofiej, especially the silver for my China Ship project,” Arranz said. “I spent several months researching and developing the various sections of the story. Best of all, the graphics team enjoys working hard to bring the Post’s readers interesting stories and presenting them in the most entertaining way possible.

The Post’s infographic team also won a bronze for its breaking news story “How the Thai cave rescue mission unfolded”, covering last year’s dramatic events in the race against time to save the Thai schoolboys trapped inside a flooded cave complex.
