The page detailing Trump’s team and their perspectives on China was meticulously constructed using data previously collected for the web by SCMP’s proficient infographic team, available at https://multimedia.scmp.com/infographics/news/world/article/3294195/trump_orbit/index.html. Andrew London, the editor of the specialized Foreign News team, meticulously curated information for each member of Trump’s new team. Once the data was structured and articulated, it was visually designed in a digital format and dynamically programmed.Subsequently, we translated this digital content into a tangible paper format, considering its presentation for print media. Rather than relying on photographs, we opted for illustrative representations (Marcelo Duhalde) to convey information in a reader-friendly manner, employing a style that is both fluid and expressive. The layout of the double-page spread (Rocio Marquez) was intentionally horizontal to enhance readability, utilizing space in a methodical and hierarchical manner to organize details about the various teams.Texts were thoughtfully structured with a restrained color palette in the legend to improve comprehension. The color red, the sole warm hue, was selectively utilized to highlight information pertaining to China. Illustrations were sketched using Procreate, while the meticulous layout design was executed using Adobe Illustrator.
–Trump’s agenda ( (Victor Sanjinez- Andrew London)
Donald Trump’s inauguration as US president was approaching, and as it was a political and worrying topic regarding his promises, we decided to highlight it through a visual story to show the article. With a previous sketch, the idea was presented to the editorial team, having a positive response and freedom to execute it. With a careful selection of each article by editor Andrew London, who developed the content with the necessary and didactic text based on his own research.According to Victor Sanjinez, the layout of the page was based on a comic style, with a minimum of two colors (red and blue), representative references of the US, the same ones that balance the page in the aesthetics and highlight some relevant points of the information as a background, there is also black as a catalyst for the entire page. The order of the cartoons was arranged according to the importance of the statements, although each cartoon can work individually, all together on a full page help to show a very suggestive visual journey to attract the reader’s eye, thanks to some graphic resources in its composition, such as a real-scale central image, Trump’s face, distributing the cartoons as ideas and thoughts that are confused with his face and at the same time are born and expand inside and outside of it.
Using the drawing with crossed lines, loose but ordered, accentuating a chiaroscuro that gives strength and character to the page.
The page gives a good explanation of the ideas, promises and today controversial resolutions of Donald Trump.
